I am a PhD Candidate at the Schulich School of Business (York University) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I am a strategy scholar interested in the relationship between government and business. My research focuses on how businesses influence government and how that influence impacts both firm and societal outcomes. As someone who has personal experience with politics— including running for federal office in Canada in 2015 and previously filling leadership roles in government advocacy in a non-partisan capacity — I bring a unique perspective to management research on business-government relations. I try to use this experience to present a picture of this important non-market strategy that I believe is more nuanced, more accurate, and more socially responsible.
About Me
In a previous life, I was involved with politics. I ran for federal office here in Canada in 2015 (pictured below). I also managed campaigns for provincial and municipal office and helped lead several political initiatives as a non-partisan actor that gave me the opportunity to meet with, and often try to convince, policy makers at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels.
My experience with politics gave me a unique understanding of how politics works firsthand. As such, my research tries to reflect what I believe is a more nuanced, more accurate, and more socially responsible picture of business-government relations.
